Acting Governor Teguh Discusses the Reactivation of Kota Tua

Jakarta Acting Governor, Teguh Setyabudi held a meeting and visit to Kota Tua, West Jakarta. He said that this agenda was carried out in the context of reactivating the Kota Tua area.

"We want Kota Tua to be arranged in a better way as the center of Indonesian culture and history,"

This meeting was attended by Jakarta Acting Governor, Teguh Setyabudi together with Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (PPAPP), Veronica Tan; Deputy Minister of Creative Economy (Ekraf), Irene Umar; and Presidential Special Staff for Creative Economy, Yovie Widianto.

As observed by beritajakarta.id, they held a meeting at the House of Tugu cafe on Jalan Kali Besar Barat. Afterwards, they used a golf cart to take a tour in Kota Tua, starting from Lokbin Kota Intan, Kota Intan Bridge, Jalan Kali Besar Timur, and Fatahillah Museum.

"Kota Tua is a starting point of Jakarta's identity. From here, Batavia and all the elements in here shaped Jakarta until now towards a global city. We want Kota Tua to be arranged in a better way as the center of Indonesian culture and history," said Teguh in Kota Tua area, Thursday (1/23).

According to him, this tour is a valuable momentum to recognize the potential of the area, explore strategic opportunities, and build collaboration between central and local governments by the utilization of historical assets. Thus it can support the lives of the surrounding community and the future of Kota Tua which is getting more creative and competitive.

"As the center of Indonesia's culture and history, we hope that in the future, Jakarta will at least equal or even exceed other cities, such as Yogyakarta and Bali. Because, Jakarta is so rich in culture and history, moreover it is the miniature of Indonesia," he conveyed.

He also hoped that the arrangement of Kota Tua as tourist destination can be a mutual concern, because Jakarta Provincial Government cannot do it alone considering that many land and building assets in Kota Tua do not only belong to the city government, but are also owned by the ministries, BUMNs, and private parties.

"We will submit the report to the upper level, a council or institution that specifically organizes this area. Whether it will be under the Ministry, Vice President or President. Because Kota Tua will be a creative economic path that is very extraordinary for Jakarta City," he stated.

Moreover, his side will also gradually organize the supporting infrastructure and facilities to realize the low emission area in Kota Tua as mandated by the governor's regulation.

"Synergy and joint commitment are needed for the arrangement in Kota Tua," he asserted.
